n.b. - The BikePedia charts have some obvious inconsistencies (for instance there is no green color mentioned for R40 bikes at all on BP, but Hostel Shoppe's assembly guide clearly shows a green bike. Perhaps the HS photos are actually of a 2002 - 2004 R44 or R45. Also, ATP's own promo shots clearly show green R40's from 2000). But, even if not perfect, these should help buyers of used Visions determine approximate vintage of their bikes. BP is also missing 2000 and 2003 stats for ANY Vision.

Irv Jamison has supplied these general tips...a 36" wheelbase was made before 1998. Later models with 20" front wheel generally have a wheelbase of 40-42". 4 digit serial number codes: 0209 would be Feb/1999 build date. There were never any 2004's made, they were 2003's as the ATP phones were shut off and employees left in early December 2003. Bankruptcy closed in March 2004 and Volae bought the tooling and rights. Early-mid 2002 had a 1" headset Mid 2002-2003 all have 1 1/8" headset. 1996-200? Has sheet metal bracing at head tube and bent frame at head tube. Any straight frame R40 is a late 2002-2003. R40's used 2" diameter frame tube. All R40's had a choice of USS/OSS steering. Some R42's used 1.75" main tube diameter and had full suspension contrary to the released specs. R44/R45 used 1.75" main tube.

Links below have illustrative photos of each model, and the variations of each model.
